I GOTTA FEELING IS A LIVERPOOL FEELING

The electronic opening of Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling" reminds me of our Graduation Ball in Liverpool.

After dinner, the DJ spun this track and the familiar sounds of Black Eyed Peas blasted the hall. I think this song aptly defined the mood that night.

I mean, I'd say that night (1st September 2009) was bittersweet. On one hand, we were so happy that we completed our 15 assessments in just 3 months. All our hard work, crushing of brain juice and 'sweat' (our hands do sweat sometimes due to too much typing), we've finally made it through the three months of scholarly torture.

Looking back, those are really the best moments of my life.

On the other hand, we're really sad because we know that our Liverpool journey together was coming to an end. Our hearts were swollen because we know that we won't have a chance to experience this again. We've all striven together as a group of course mates and friends. We've went through the toughest times together and we've practically shed the same tears and shared the same sweetness of success. The treasure I brought home from Liverpool is the meaning of true friendship, and not really the degree.

And now whenever I hear this song, my mind floats to the scene that night when everyone was dressed up in their beautiful gowns and looking gorgeous. Everyone was busy taking photos with everyone, trying to make sure that every fragment of the night was preserved in photography.

I regretted not taking enough pictures that night. My memory of that night is quite vague actually. My memory is probably hazy because I did not have enough of rest the night before, in which we busied ourselves with last minute study for the exams.

The most avid memory of the ball was when "I Gotta Feeling" was played. I guess it really lifted up the mood of the whole ball. Everyone was suddenly dancing on the dance floor below the shimmering of the disco ball (yes, they had one). I didn't do much dancing haha. I was basically wading through the sea of people, searching for my friends so that we can move on to our next activity, which was night-walking and sight-seeing. And then we went for a movie. Anyway, here it is ...
