GOOD RIDDANCE FOR 2013, SWEET SERENDIPITY FOR 2014
My first post for 2014! Since we are still hungover from our New Year celebrations, I decide to write something related to the welcoming of the New Year.
So let me tell you about my Song of the Year for 2013! Well, technically, my song of the year is not produced in 2013. But if I have to choose a song to end 2013, it will be Green Day's Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) because it is perfect for obvious reasons.
Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don't ask why
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right
I hope you have the time of your life
Looking back, I'm sure we all have had our ups and downs throughout the year, but at the end of the day, everything happens for a reason. Sometimes, we have to make decisions, some easier ones and some harder ones - the best way to get through it I guess is to have faith that it is the right path and continue to work hard. I have this friend who has given me this great advice: "You never know whether the choice you made is right or wrong until you make it. If it is wrong, why worry, you can just pick again."
As last year drew to an end, I was placed in a position where I had to make certain choices, and although letting go is always the hardest thing to do for me, I have made up my mind to move on. Come 2014, I will have to start something new, with its new set of challenges.
So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf, in good health and good times
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what is worth, it's worth all the while
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right
I hope you have the time of your life
The reason why I write a blog is to remember the good times and the bad. I do read my diaries sometimes and I am very embarrassed with my childishness and stupidity back then haha. But really, I am glad I have grown so much over the years. That said, I've recently just dumped two of my diaries when I move to my new place because, yes, my diaries were too crappy (even I cringed when I read it haha) and I didn't want ANYONE to EVER HAVE A CHANCE to peruse it. Diaries are very attractive documents and they somehow have this magnetic force that drags people to it. I blog but I don't write stuff that are too personal anymore.
The song sums up a lot about life for the past year. I have also fixated the best memories of last year in my previous post, just to remember all the good and forget the sad.
To welcome and embrace myself for the New Year, I would pick the song "Sweet Serendipity" by Lee DeWyze. I love this song for so many reasons because I can relate to it in so many levels. Despite life's rollercoaster ride, I am generally very grateful for a lot of things and I think I have had it good. The song reminds me about that. You can check out my post about this song here.
Here's once again to a great New Year!
