WHAT IF I WERE YOU

Found a new "Five for Fighting" track that I love. Thanks for amazing lyrics once again. You have been missed since the "Superman" and "100 Years" days.

This is the second song entitled "What If" that I like, after Colbie Cailait's "What If" (will definitely write about that song soon).

I interpret the lyrics as about putting yourself in another person's shoes before we make a judgement. It is about being grateful for the position you are in, while helping others make the best out of their own situation.

It is a reminder to always try to understand the other side of things, and imagine yourself in a different position, how would you feel. Sometimes, to solve a problem I guess, we need to learn to see from another person's perspective and I believe that is the essence that makes this new "Five for Fighting" song.
It starts with a simple line.

What if I were you...

Threw a line out to pull you to me

If you don't get it, then you don't get it
You made your mind before you knew me
If you don't get it, then you don't get it
Take my hand
We're in it - imagine all the pain that might be forgiven

What if I had your heart?

What if you wore my scars?
How would we break down?
What if you were me and what if I were you?

What if you told my lies?

What if I cried with your eyes?
Could anyone keep us down?
What if you were me?
What if I were you?

Had a dream of a new tomorrow

If you don't get it, then you don't get it
I took a step hoping you might follow
If you don't get it, then you don't get it
Take a chance for a minute
Jump in it
Imagine if you asked youself for a minute

What if I had your heart?

What if you wore my scars?
How would we break down?
What if you were me and what if I were you?
What if you told my lies?
What if I cried with your eyes?
Could anyone keep us down?
What if you were me?
What if I were you?

To the ones who make it better, find to get out

Gotta touch the other side
What if all that it took to save our lives together was to rise up?

I must also commend the video clip. Simplistic yet cleverly depicts the idea behind the songs. You know how in movies we always make robots, but the video gives that storyline a twist when the robot made humans. The ending is a bit sad, within seconds, it managed to well up my eyes. Please watch it and enjoy.
