THE THING ABOUT MOTHERS

Mums...
Let me just say this: The thing you dislike most about them, that is what you are most likely going to be like one day! Haha.
This weekend, as we celebrate mothers, I'd just like to point out the fact that there are many types of mums out there.

For example, the "disciplinary teachers" are those super strict ones, who makes sure everything is in place and proper. They are like so detailed and meticulous that if they are housewives, the house would be sparkling clean and children would eat their meals on time, take vitamins, etc.

Then there are those mums who are just their "kids' best friend". They can do anything together despite the age difference - and they are usually the cool mums. They are more lenient and hence, kinda let things go haywire a little.

The "worry wart" mums are those who are overprotective of their kids. So they are skeptical and worried about every single thing! These mums usually say NO to everything their child wants to do, if they see it as dangerous.

The "silent ones" are those who are just shy and quiet. They do just whatever dad has to say and they are just always there to care and support their child no matter what. They are soft on the outside, but many times, these are the mums who are the most patient and the strongest mentally.

What I truly believe is that, mums can be as weird, fun, naughty, naggy, annoying etc as can be, but at the end of everyday, they have one purpose only, and that is to ensure that we have the best. Most of the times, mums become the way there are because they love us and they want us to follow their orders or rules because they strongly believe their ways are good for us - and they want the best for us although we may or may not agree.

My mum is a very interesting character. Although she is turning 61 this December, sometimes, she is like a kid. And she is, yes, as some people say "cute".

Here are a few things about her that I'd remember forever:

1. Her "kancheongness" in waking me up
If she knows I have to wake up early, she would come to my room like almost 10 to 20 minutes earlier to tell me to wake up in 10 to 20 minutes, without realising that SHE HAS ALREADY WOKE ME UP!

2. Her "kancheongness" in getting to an occasion
Weddings, dinners, meetings, parties etc, you name it, she will suggest the most ridiculous time to leave the house! I remember once, my aunt from Singapore is coming to down. Her bus was schedule to arrive at 7am. My aunt was supposed to give us a call first when she reaches KL before we left the house. But basically at around 5am my mum has already gave me a wake up call and by 6am, she has practically ushered me to the car to pick my aunt. I told her that we don't need to be that early since aunt hasn't call yet - because even if she reaches KL, we have ample of time to get to the station as it is near. But no, mum insisted and of course, I have to give in. We reached the station 20 minutes later to find out that my aunt's bus was delayed for another 2 hours... It was really another "I told you so" moment haha.

3. Her creativity
If there is one talent that my mum has, it is her creativity. She is the most resourceful when it comes to solving problems (without money). I had a pair of fake glasses which I love and I lost a screw. She fixed it with a toothpick as replacement.

So...this mother's day, I'd like to take this opportunity to tell her how much she means to me and thank her for always being there. :)

MUMMY I LOVE YOU!
