T-REVIEWS: US AGAINST YOU
"This has been a story about ice rinks and all the hearts that beat in and around them. About people and sports and how they sometimes take it in turns to carry each other. About us, dreaming and fighting. Some have fallen in love, and some have been destroyed; we've had good days and some very bad ones." - Fredrick Backman, Us Against You
If there is ONE series you can choose to read this year, please make it Fredrick Backman's "Beartown" and "Us Against You". Every single sentence is beautiful crafted to stir thoughts and emotions, making it a poignant and heartfelt literary journey. You'll be pleased to know that Backman delivered yet another outstanding job developing the characters in the sequel to Beartown. It is so good that I shed tears for the characters while reading on my phone, probably making my mom think that I have suffered an intense break-up. The second offering of the series delves more into leadership, teamwork, sacrifices and how the strongest people are those who keep fighting harder every day to live when things are hard. Essentially, it reestablishes the flaws and beauty of humanity at the same time. Backman's books are a celebration of being a human - good or bad.
