SCHINDLER, OSKAR SCHINDLER
Schindler's List is another very touching movie about the holocaust and Nazis. One of my loves is to watch movies or documentaries and read books related to the Nazis and the Holocaust. It is interesting to me because learning about the holocaust, the cruelty and darkness of those times gives us something to reflect on and ponder. Looking back the tragic historical events will help us feel the gratitude of being here today.
After watching this movie, you'll learn to admire Oskar Schindler, who is a true hero, not only to the Jews, but I to many as well. The sacrifices he made and the things he did to save the lives of the Jews at that time, there is no greater word to describe the kindness of his soul. So, let's take some time to pay tribute to the man who has rescued 1,100 Jews. Because of him, there are now actually more than 6,000 Schindler Jews.
Oskar Schindler
Schindler's List is a black and white film and I admit that deciphering the dialogues can be a pain due to the German accent. Watching it on Youtube also made it a real challenge.
You might also be interested to know that Poldek Pfefferberg is the name of the man who brought up Oskar Schindler to Thomas Kenealley, who wrote the book Schindler's Ark and also persistently persuaded Steven Spielberg to make the film. He was also the adviser for the movie.
I mention Pfefferberg because I love his quote:
Schindler gave me my life, and I tried to give him immortality.
Pfefferberg has definitely done so. Steven Spielberg said in his Oscar acceptance speech that he owes Pfefferberg such a debt because Pfefferberg has carried the story of Schindler to all of us. I couldn't agree more.
